Custom Furniture in St. Petersburg, Florida

St. Petersburg’s reputation as one of Florida’s great arts cities makes it a natural fit for handmade wood furniture. Erdei Designs builds completely custom, one-of-a-kind pieces just across the bay in our Belleair Bluffs studio, and many of our St. Pete clients first find us through the same gallery and design community that surrounds the Dali Museum and the Warehouse Arts District. A live-edge dining table or a sculptural coffee table sits comfortably alongside the city’s growing collection of public murals and working artist studios.

In the Old Northeast and Kenwood, we regularly build furniture sized to fit the character of the neighborhood’s Craftsman bungalows and Mediterranean Revival homes — dining tables that anchor a formal dining room, and vanities finished to match century-old woodwork. Downtown, our clients along Beach Drive and in the waterfront high-rises near North Straub Park tend to commission sleeker pieces: minimalist desks, low-profile media consoles, and bar tops for condos with a view of Tampa Bay. St. Petersburg’s restaurant and hospitality scene has also brought us commercial work, including bar tops and communal tables built to withstand nightly service while still showing the natural life of the slab.

Many of the slabs we use for St. Petersburg commissions come from storm-felled and salvaged trees recovered from around Pinellas County, so a piece built for a home near Crescent Lake or Coffee Pot Bayou may carry a story rooted in the same soil. Every table, desk, or vanity is joined and finished entirely by hand — no CNC machines, no production lines — using techniques passed down over three generations of the Erdei family.
